Nicknamed the “Greatest Show under the Sun”, the Delray Affair is one of the largest arts & craft festival in the Southeast United States. Chinoiserie Across Europe During the Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries
Join Emmanuel Ducamp, visiting Professor for architecture and the Decorative arts at the École du Louvre in Paris, for a presentation on Chinoiserie. This talk will continue to explore that imaginary and fanciful world of the making of Chinoiserie reproductions, in ceramic, or japanned – European – lacquer. It will also dwell on examples of the Chinoiserie style in Europe, in countries such as France, Portugal, Austria or Great Britain, throughout the eighteenth century and until the beginning of the nineteenth century.
