January 20 to 29- “The Full Monty”: Tony Award-Winning Smash Musical

Six unemployed steel workers form a male striptease act. The women cheer them on to go for “the full monty” – total nudity. Raucous, pop-rock-musical send-up of gender expectations and stereotypes… that takes it all off! Based on the hit film of the same name, “The Full Monty”, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show. While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out,” a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash. In preparing, they find themselves extremely exposed; not merely physically but emotionally. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they’re stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to “let it go.” “The Full Monty” is a story full of heart. Right to the end, audiences will be wondering if these lovable misfits will really pull it off. With a raucous mix of razor-sharp humor and toe-tapping pizzazz, this heartwarming, upbeat comedy is a must for any theatre looking for a big hit.Held at Lauderhill Performing Arts (LPAC.com) or 954-777-2055    Lauderhill Performing Arts Center 3800 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311  For more info. and tickets, CLICK HERE

January 20 to 26-The Miami Jewish Film Festival

The Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF) is proud to announce the program for its upcoming 26th edition, which will be a hybrid of virtual and live programming events with 105 films in selection. The festival will screen 88 feature and 17 short films representing 25 countries, including 9 world premieres, 12 international premieres, 12 North American premieres, and 4 US premieres. The lineup holds 33 first-time feature filmmakers and an unprecedented 34 films directed by women (32% of total program).

The Miami Jewish Film Festival, America’s largest Jewish film festival, will host a hybrid program for its 26th Edition featuring more than 70 in-theater screenings at seven venues across Greater Miami at a variety of locations, including Miami Beach, Coral Gables, and North Miami. The Festival will also present an online component featuring more than 60 films available for streaming throughout the state of Florida and the United States.

The opening night film of MJFF 2023 will celebrate and honor Israel’s 75th birthday with the premiere of Karaoke, a bittersweet comedy starring Israeli superstars Lior Ashkenazi and Sasson Gabay. Nominated for 13 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, the film’s premiere will feature the attendance of director Moshe Rosenthal and actor Sasson Gabay, one of Israel’s most acclaimed actors of stage and screen who is best known for his work on Shtisel and The Band’s Visit. The festival will then host a closing night premiere of the acclaimed comedy My Neighbor Adolf starring legendary actor Udo Kier. Both opening and closing night will take place at the historic Miami Beach Bandshell’s open-air amphitheater in Miami Beach. For all information, Ticket Purchase and more, Click here: https://miamijewishfilmfestival.org/films/2023

NOTE: In celebration of Israel’s 75th birthday, MJFF will present a record-breaking 29 films produced in Israel;  Also, January 15, the film “Closed Circuit” is produced by Nancy Spielberg, the sister of Steven. It is a powerful account that lays bare the devastating heartbreak of the 2016 terrorist attack that took place in the heart of Tel Aviv. Riveting, searing, and heart-pounding, filmmaker Tal Inbar helps us imagine the unthinkable by skillfully weaving together raw footage from closed-circuit cameras at the infamous terrorist attack in Sarona Market with the present-day memories of survivors of the incident.

The special premiere event will feature producer Nancy Spielberg and writer/director Tal Inbar in attendance to introduce the film and participate in a Q&A afterward.
