This tried-and-true veteran, located in the atrium of the Seeman Holtz Building, has a well-appointed dance floor to accompany its three-course lunch ($25 per person) and dinner ($39 per person). For lunch, sample the ricotta-and-parmesan-stuffed eggplant rollatini topped with marinara as the appetizer, the shrimp pappardelle porcini or chicken Milanese with greens and aged balsamic glaze for the main, and double-chocolate mousse cake for dessert. For dinner, begin with clams oreganata, and for entrees choose between duck a l’ orange or grilled veal chop porcini. Finish with house made tiramisu.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a purple-pink wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France, north of Lyon. Bottled only 6-8 weeks after harvest, the wine has very little tannin & can be dominated by such fruity flavors as banana, fig & pear drop. The “Beaujolais Nouveau” celebration began as a local phenomenon in the bars, cafes, and bistros of the Beaujolais region in the fifties. Over the years, it has become one of the most animated wine rituals in the world. Blues and soul music fans know that the soundtrack to early rock’ n’ roll ran on three-minute instrumentals with sax in the lead, and was directly related to 1950s and 1960s New Orleans R&B hits, along with that deep-fried wildness that came from Memphis. With this history lesson in mind, old school rock ‘n’ soul saxophonist and singer Terry Hanck makes perfect sense. Clearly, Hanck has worshipped at the right Southern altars– those of such iconic R&B brothers as Fats Domino, Ray Charles, B. B. King, Lee Allen and King Curtis. “I write songs that you think you’ve heard for years,” says the South Florida-based Hanck, who’s got suave movie-star looks and a good time presence that immutably anchors the old-style R&B he adores.
