Spelling Bee” -Officially titled “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”opens run till July 2 at the new PGA Arts Center in Palm Beach Gardens

The show has been nominated for 6 Tony Awards and won 2. It’s got a small cast but a big heart. (Scroll down on how to enter) PRIZE VALUE: $76  (each ticket is $38; a pair is $76)

Story: It’s about a diverse group of sixth graders who arrive at a Spelling Bee, each eager to win for different reasons. (Note: The sixth graders are played by ADULT ACTORS, and the town is fictional)

This a “tongue-in-cheek” parody, meaning it’s got double meanings, witty innuendo. It’s a funny, heart-warming musical that will appeal to people of all ages. It will put adults back in touch with their youth and inner child,  bring back memories of growing up, and show the different relationships kids have with their parents.

The show has hilarious and catchy songs as each speller reveals funny and touching stories about their home lives.  6 spellers enter, praying not to hear the “DING” of a bell that means they made a spelling mistake. Only one speller wins.

P.S. And the audience participation aspect of the show will add another layer of enjoyment for the audience—who knows…you might be asked to come on stage and spell “perspicacious”!)
