November 14-The Florida Intergenerational Orchestra is Holding OPEN REHEARSALS For All Musicians

Come to an Open Rehearsal for all musicians at 7:00 p.m. Just bring your instruments and your love of music. The Youth Scholarship auditions commences at 7:00 p.m. Please contact [email protected] or call 908 391-3329 to attend. The Florida Intergenerational Orchestra, the orchestra for everyone, begins its 15th Anniversary with an Open Rehearsal and FREE Youth Scholarships. The Orchestra is under the direction of founder/conductor, Lorraine Marks-Field. We are hoping that this season will be the best yet for the orchestra as over the years we have improved our performances, developed our audiences, and have attracted more and more dedicated players. We will continue to offer scholarships to those who need them, youth scholarships, and a mentorship program as we are always looking for new faces. The Florida Intergenerational Orchestra of America is designed for intermediate and advanced/professional level players in the area, who wish to share and develop their artistic talents while enjoying musicmaking in a friendly orchestral setting with a repertoire that has a wide range of styles and difficulty. Membership is open to everyone from youth, to adults and senior citizens from South Florida and throughout the USA, Canada, etc. The youth scholarship program is designed to attract young players, ages 8 to 18 who love music and their instruments, and who want to be part of a symphony orchestra that blends the generations. Participation in this orchestra for High School students can count toward Community Service credits at school. If you are considering this please contact your school in advance for approval. Free Scholarships to the FLIOA are given to all eligible students. The non-profit orchestra, featuring musicians ranging in age from 10 to 100, was honored by the State of Florida, Department of Elder Affair with the ” Legacy Award “ for its intergenerational concept. Check local movie theater listings for times; See digitally restored versions of six quintessential episodes with an all-new documentary short titled “Remembering Rod Serling” about the life, imagination and creativity of creator Serling, whose thought-provoking anthology series continues to mesmerize fans.  Here are the 6 episodes shown:  (note: 3 hour running time)

1. Walking Distance: Martin Sloane, a VP of an ad agency, stops his car at a gas station when he realizes he is 1.5 miles away from Homewood, the town he grew up in. To Serve Man: Michael Chambers recounts recent events on Earth after the arrival of an alien space craft. Chambers attempts to decrypt a book the aliens left behind.
