NEWS: A UNIQUE AND MEANINGFUL GIFT: “ADOPT A WILD DOLPHIN”
Help protect these wonderful and intelligent creatures. I just ‘adopted’ a wild dolphin and received a “Certificate of Adoption”, a brief life history and color photograph of my dolphin–and a hard copy of our book “An Ocean of Inspiration”–The John Olguin Story. For those into social networking, each dolphin has its own Facebook page (and there are 300 yet to be adopted.) All this for only $30 + $5 for shipping in the U.S. Or, perhaps, just get a copy of this wonderful book for $15 + $3 for shipping in the U.S. This makes a gift that truly does real good and supports a great cause. (Note: “When you buy from a dolphin scientist, you are buying more than an object; you are buying thousands of hours of exploration and observation .. and years of commitment….a piece of heart…and a piece of soul…”) Support the Palm Beach Dolphin Project- Info: harzen@taras.org or 561-762-6473 Click here to watch this video of a fun dolphin performance- (But are the dolphins being harmed? Read the scientist’s opinion below.) CLICK HERE By Scientist, Explorer, Author, Dolphin Researcher-Dr. Stefan Harzan:
When it comes to dolphin performances in some form of captive environment, there has always been a great deal of dispute. You may have seen the movie ‘Black Fish’, which is specifically about killer whales (the largest dolphins), which addresses some of the concerns we must have when keeping dolphins in our care. While it is often a challenge to provide accurate scientific data on how animals feel I believe given all what we know today, we have all the reason to believe that keeping dolphins in captivity deprives them of almost everything these wonderful animals are supposed to do and experience in their lives. yes, we did and continue to learn many things about their amazing abilities, but usually only in facilities that are 100% dedicated to conducting research. All the other places, where people can go and enjoy the show, are fundamentally business ventures, where dolphins have tremendous value as the ‘workforce’, just like circus animals. ‘Swim with the dolphin’ programs are rather recent and even though they provide for great experiences to the human visitors, I am sure you can imagine how much stress it must be for the dolphins having people touch and pet them without any way to escape. If you have an opportunity to swim with dolphins…why not do it in the open ocean? There, the dolphins may stay close or just leave. But it is so much better, because we meet them on their terms.

Eat-Scene Coming to West Palm Beach
The eating scene in West Palm Beach is going to expand with the debut of Eat-Scene, a combination gourmet market / restaurant area set to debut in December at the corner of Quadrille Boulevard and Fern Street. The brainchild of long-time Florida resident, Tony Solo, Eat-Scene is described as being loosely based on such similar venues as New York’s Eataly and Seattle’s Pike’s Market. There will be 20 or so different independently owned businesses under the Eat-Scene roof, from purveyors of produce, meat and seafood to gourmet spices, chocolates and baked good, along with four different “micro eateries,” a deli and an outdoor beer garden. The idea, according to Eat-Scene’s website, is to create a “market culture for wine and food enthusiasts” and a “social venue that appeals to all your senses.” Located at: 501 Fern St, West Palm Beach, FL 33401-Info; 561-275-1550 or www.eatscene.com
